Conservative vs Risky Staking: What Changes

By BetPros Research Team · Published · 5 min read

A question we get from new Pro subscribers: "Conservative and Risky sound like they must be different picks." They're not. All four strategies -- Base, Advanced, Conservative, and Risky -- follow the exact same published signals. What changes is purely how much gets staked on each one.

Same signals, different stakes

Base uses a flat stake on every qualifying signal, available to every subscriber, free or Pro. Advanced, Conservative, and Risky are Pro-only compounding strategies that stake a percentage of the subscriber's own current bankroll instead of a flat unit, recalculated on a fixed schedule as results settle.

What "Conservative" actually adjusts

Conservative sizes each signal by its own odds bucket, staking relatively less on longer-priced signals and relatively more on shorter-priced ones -- reducing how much a single high-odds loss can move the bankroll, at the cost of a smaller stake on the signals that would have paid out the most.

What "Risky" actually adjusts

Risky applies the same odds-bucket idea in the opposite direction -- sizing up more aggressively on longer-priced signals. The name is deliberate: it's not a different, riskier set of picks, it's the same picks staked in a way that carries real, larger added drawdown risk in exchange for a higher backtested return. See the strategies page for the current live return and risk figures for all four, since those numbers move as results settle and are worth checking fresh rather than trusting a fixed snapshot in a blog post.

Which one is right for you

There isn't a universally correct answer -- it's a real trade-off between smoother, lower-variance growth and higher expected return with deeper potential drawdowns, and the right choice depends on how a subscriber actually wants their own bankroll to behave, not on which strategy has historically posted the biggest number.
